Page 2 The Grenada Star Wednesday, May 5, 2021 Arthur Wayne Boyette Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021, at Oliver Chapel in Winona for Mr. Arthur Wayne Boyette, 72, of Meridian, who died on Monday, April 26, at his residence. Burial followed in Mission Cemetery in Winona. Visitation was held from 1 p.m.

until service time on Friday, April 30, at Oliver Funeral Home. Mr. Boyette was born on Aug. 6, 1948, in Montgomery County to James L. and Ann Robinson Boyette.

He was of the Baptist faith and a Navy veteran. Survivors include, his sister, Mary Ann Richardson of Meridian; brother, Jerry Boyette (Rosemary) of Grenada and a host of nieces and nephews. James Crouch Funeral services were held at 11 a.m.

on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel for James Crouch, 83, of Winona, who died on Sunday, April 25, in Tupelo. Burial followed in Poplar Creek Nations Baptist Church Cemetery near Kilmichael. The Rev. Terry Edwards and the Rev. Billy Little officiated.

Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, April 28, at Oliver Funeral Home. Sonny was born on Sept. 27, 1937, in Montgomery County to Arthur Otis and Ruby Estell Carpenter Crouch. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Winona.

His parents; one son, James Matthew Crouch; sister, Lottie Brenneman; one brother, Robert Crouch and a granddaugh- ter, Heather Montague, preceded Sonny in death. Survivors include, his wife, Betty Chesteen Crouch of Winona; daughter, Debra Crouch of Dover, two sons, Jesse Crouch of Magee and Andy Crouch of Grenada; one brother, William Crouch of Stewart; stepdaughter, Melissa Sims of French Camp; stepson, Terry Edwards of Stewart; 12 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dorothy Jane Davis Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Tippo First United Methodist Church for Dorothy Jane Davis, 84, of Tippo, who died on Sunday, April 25, at her residence.

Burial followed in Tippo First United Methodist Church Cemetery. Dr. Ray Branch offici- ated. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until service time on Saturday, May 1, at Tippo First United Methodist Church.

Dot was born on Oct. 10, 1936, in Cascilla. She was a mem- ber of Tippo First United Methodist Church. Her parents, Sam Scallions and Ruth Kendall Scallions, and one sister, Lena Davis, preceded Dot in death. Survivors include, her husband of 65 years, Curtis Eddie Davis; sons, Don Davis (Angie) of Tippo, Jimbo Davis (Brenda) of Tippo and Neal Davis (Becky) of Cordova, one sister, Linda Burns (Bryon) of Cascilla; brothers, Orris Scallions (Brenda) of Macel and the Rev.

Bobby Hugh Denley In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a visitation to honor Mr. Bobby Hugh Denley, 85, of Grenada, who died on Sunday, April 25, 2021, in Grenada was held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada.

The Rev. Howard Beam, pastor of Hebron Baptist Church where Bob was a member, offered the eulogy at the conclusion of visitation. Bob retired from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and from his convenience store, Quick Stop. He was a Little League Baseball coach in years past, an avid bird and coon hunter, a fan of Kirk basketball, the Atlanta Braves and Ole Miss football and a United States Army Veteran. His parents, George and Sybil Thompson and Wilford and Sue Denley, preceded Bob in death.

Survivors include, his wife of 65 years, Charlene; daughter, Kim Hill (Woody); sons, Greg Denley (Amy) and Derek Denley; nine grandchildren, Lauren, Garrett, Devin, Dani, Jesse, Damien, Gunner, Carley and Sam and eight great grandchildren, Beau, Devan, Madi, Wyatt, Payton, Kemp, Lawson and Chayenne. Bernice Freelon Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Greater Pine Hill Church for Bernice Freelon, retired business- woman, homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and widow of the late Felix Freelon, who died on Thursday, April 22, in Grenada. Visitation was held from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 30, at Clark-Williams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Freelon, born and raised in Grenada, was 91 years old. She was born on Jan. 11, 1930. She was well-known and respected in the Grenada commu- nity.

Mrs. Freelon, the mother of 10 living children, six of whom reside in the Grenada area, was an active member of the community and a 1966 Federally Registered Voter. She was a member of the Greater Pine Hill Church for more than 65 years. Survivors include, her children, McKinley Adams, Billy Joe Freelon (Gloria) of Modesto, Felix Freelon Jr. (Margaret), Dianna Freelon-Foster, Michael Freelon (Lois), Timothy Freelon, Stanley Freelon (Marie) of Houston, Texas, Tracy Freelon (Kekaloma) of Memphis, Harvey Freelon (Debra) of Atlanta, and Minnie Travis; daugh- ters-in-law, Shirley Freelon of Waldorf, and Sheila Freelon of Chicago, sisters, Mozell Knox of St.

Louis, and Mary Williamson of Yazoo City; sisters-in law, Sammie Baker of Chicago, and Gladys Freelon of Maywood, cousins, Carrie Mae Coleman of Chicago, Ola Mae Bowdry and Ola H. Bowdry of Grenada and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Clark-Williams Funeral Home was in charge of arrange- ments. Alyne McDaniel Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel for Alyne McDaniel, 89, of Grenada, who died on Sunday, April 25, in Grenada.

Burial followed in Indianola City Cemetery. Visitation was held from noon until service time on Wednesday, April 28, at Mortimer National Funeral Home in Grenada. Alyne was born on July 30, 1931, in Arkansas, the daugh- ter of the late John Thomas Clayton Petty and Winnie Petty. She worked in the field of education for more than 30 years as a teacher and a Title I supervisor. She was a member of Holcomb Baptist Church.

Her parents; her husband, Bro. William McDaniel; three sisters, Jerleen Cole, Pearl McCollum and Loretta Knox, and one brother, J.T. Petty, preceded Alyne in death. Survivors include, her sons, Joe McDaniel and his wife, Joan, and Gary McDaniel and his wife, Theresa, all of Holcomb; two sisters, Ruby Buford of Madison and Alice King of Greenville; sister-in-law, Frances Elaine Deer of Holcomb; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. on Saturday, May 8, 2021, in Alva-Parker Cemetery near Duck Hill for Lynda Michelle Piccolo, 49, of Batesville, who died on Saturday, May 1, in Batesville after suffering with a brain tumor for the last 10 years. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday, May 8, at the cemetery. Michelle was born on Aug. 27, 1971, in Greenville, the daughter of Ron Piccolo and the late Linda Faye Connelly Piccolo. She grew up in Memphis, where she gradu- ated from Kirby High School.

She had various types of employment throughout the years, but her most treasured experiences came from when she was working around live music. She was especially fond of rock music and anyone that knew her would have to agree. She was a very genuine person who knew no stranger and was never afraid to speak her mind. Michelle will be greatly missed. Survivors include, her four children, Nicholas, Beth Leah, David and Olivia; sister, Melissa Childs and her husband, Carl; three nieces, Amber, Kayla and Carla; her father, Ron Piccolo; her grandmother, Erma Connelly; aunts, Cinda Applegate, Derenda Strong and Kaye Hood and several cousins.

on Friday, May 7, 2021, in Woodlawn Memorial Park for Miss Patricia Diane Rushing, 66, of Grenada, who died on Tuesday, April 27, at her residence. She was born Aug. 9, 1954, in Memphis, Tenn. She had worked for a number of years at Heatcraft in Grenada. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her parents, Howard Taylor Rushing and Margie Lee Bennett Tubbs, and brother, Howard Lee Rushing, preceded Diane in death. While Diane leaves no relatives, she leaves behind a num- ber of friends to cherish her memory. Lori Barnett Weatherall, 60, of Grenada, who died on Tuesday, April 27, in Jackson. The Rev. Eugene Heimbach officiated. Lori was born on Jan. 6, 1961, in Oakland, to Joseph Earl Jr.

and Annis Allred Barnett. She enjoyed a 28-year-long career with the Mississippi Department of Human Services. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Her son, David Beecher Weatherall, and one brother, Mike Barnett, preceded Lori in death. Survivors include, her husband, Beecher Weatherall; daughter, Lauren McClintock of Brandon; her parents, the Rev.

Joe and Ann Barnett of Olive Branch; one brother, Dennis Barnett (Arlena) of Byhalia; granddaughter, Taylor McClintock and sister-in-law, Diane Barnett of Southaven. Jenny Vold Woods A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Ms. Jenny Vold Woods, 45, of Grenada, who died on Friday, Jan. 29, at her residence. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service on Saturday, May 8, at McKibben and Guinn.

Ms. Woods was born on Aug. 28, 1975, in Grenada to Charles and Dixie Rose Fisher Vold. She had worked for a number of years as a CNA. A talented artist, she enjoyed painting, pottery and cross-stitching.

Her uncles, Sidney Fisher and Billy Gene Fisher, preceded Ms. Woods in death. Survivors include, her husband, Scott McNabb; daugh- ters, Ashlynn Palmertree (Michael) and Katlynn Bobbitt of Grenada; son, T.J. Russell Jr. of Grenada; parents, Charles and Dixie Vold of Grenada; grandmother, Eva Fisher of Grenada; sister, Kristina Boozer (Michael) of Grenada; grandchildren, Kayden Hughes, Kassy Hughes, Nate Bobbitt and Payton Hughes; niece, Mackenzie Boozer and nephew, Delsin Boozer.
